RE:Cover конференція in Bratislava 5

Project idea: The idea for the conference came from former coordinators of Scoop. It was a support structure for investigative reporting in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

Re:Cover Conference emerged in 2022 as a response to the pressing issues brought about by the Russian full-scale invasion. It was designed to rethink how war affects journalism and produce efficient solutions to the challenges at hand. It was designed to rethink how war affects journalism and produce efficient solutions to the challenges at hand. Three organizations joined their efforts to put the concept into reality and to provide a place for networking between Ukrainian and European media professionals.

  • The former Scoop coordinators
  • European Centre for Press
  • Media Freedom and the Regional Press Development Institute succeeded in putting the conference together.

Almost 200 reporters from 24 countries attended the event and 75 from India, Australia and Afghanistan had signed up to follow it online. There were 84 Ukrainian journalists among the offline participants.

The programme covered basically all aspects of war reporting and reshaping the industry for the years ahead.
22 sessions engaged 55 speakers and moderators from 13 countries. In 2023, the members of the team behind organizing the Conference founded RE:Cover Ukraine: a Peer-to-Peer Journalism Project.
